KNOXVILLE – Congratulations to Larry Van Baale, Nursing-Med/Surg., for being selected the KHC Hero of the Month.
“Larry has recently taken on the Med/Surg. position. In the past months, he has fully staffed Med/Surg. and has been able to eliminate agency staff and financially benefiting our budget and increasing employee satisfaction. Larry has a true passion for the success of KHC. Larry was filling in as Resource Nurse a few weeks ago and a patient came into the ER late. This patient was hungry and Larry helped him out by getting him a meal from a local fast food restaurant. Larry has gone above and beyond several times to accommodate patient’s basic needs that we often take for granted. He is very passionate about the success of his department as well. Currently he is problem solving medication scanning issues. He has identified work flow issues and addressed them as well. He promotes excellent communication and teamwork. He is constantly out working with his staff and is very supportive and tuned in to the success of his newer staff. He has implemented STAY interviews and visits with his new employees at 30, 60, 90 days post start date. Larry is very invested in the success of KHC. He has lived in this community for a long time and cares about everyone. He will not hesitate to go out of his way to help someone with a meal, go pick up groceries for someone, or make sure they have transportation. This kind of concern for the community is inspiring and admirable and I hope we can advocate for our patients like he does,” stated his nomination.
Other employees nominated in December were Heather Davis, A Zanoni, Amanda Phillips, Shelby Feagins, Nancy Greiner, and Kristina Morgan.
