KNOXVILLE – Congratulations to Lynda DeBold, Activity Coordinator, for being selected the KHC Hero of the Month.
“Lynda has been the Activity Coordinator for a little over a year at KHC. She works part time and has an office on the Med/Surg. Floor where she coordinates activities for our acute and skilled patients. She organizes pet therapy, craft projects, entertainment, reading materials and other things to keep our patients active and interested and stimulated. Lynda does all of this with a bubbly enthusiastic personality. She has stated many times that she does not feel like she is coming to work – she absolutely loves what she does and why she is doing it – for the patients! Lynda has really gone out of her way at the holidays to make sure the patients have a special memory since they were not able to be at home on the holiday. On Mother’s Day and Father’s Day she had special gifts prepared for the patients – she works with a very small budget and with the community and is very creative to have these gifts available. This past Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons were really special. Lynda went above and beyond to have carolers, guitar players, decorations, pet therapy and more for our patients. It was awesome to see the patients and staff smile because of her enthusiastic and passionate care of our patients. You can’t help but smile and feel good when Lynda is around! Lynda is certified in her position and must recertify with continuing education yearly. She took the initiative to apply for a grant to fund her recertification – and received this grant. She has made contact/friends with other activity coordinators in the area and they share ideas to enhance their programs. Lynda is a great asset to KHC,” stated her nomination.
Other employees nominated in January were Barb Anderson, Kyley Swayne, Tara Branson, Amanda Kingrey, and Lindsay Wilson.
