CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT – FULL TIME

This is a Full-Time position working Mon – Thurs, in the Red Rock Health Clinic in Pella with rotations in the Knoxville Clinic

The RRHC Certified Medical Assistant will work under the supervision of a physician.  The Certified Medical Assistant supports the physician and other providers in delivering high-quality health care and scheduling needs to Clinic patients.

Essential Functions

  • Obtains current and accurate demographic and insurance information
  • Makes patient appointments appropriately according to templates and insurance.
  • Validates the status of insurance.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to assist the uninsured population.
  • Performs telephone duties as required and routes calls to appropriate staff. Routes messages appropriately per protocol.
  • Room patients, identify and documents chief complaint, allergies and medications.
  • Measure and record vital signs, weight and measurement.
  • Provide immunizations, injections and medications under the supervision of the provider.
  • Perform preventative health screenings and nursing treatments.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Assure patients are seen in and orderly and fair manner.
  • Explain delays and waiting times.
  • Ensure that acutely ill or injured patients are triaged and seen first.
  • Notifies patient of lab/imaging results.
  • Complete room outdate checks and restock exam rooms.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant from an accredited organization.
  • Previous clinic experience preferred.
  • Current BLS and Mandatory Reporter Certification
