High School graduate or GED equivalent preferred. Previous cash handling experience and ability to operate cash register preferred. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures. Performs routine food service tasks in kitchen, cafeteria, dishroom, and vending areas. Serves as cashier in the cafeteria. Follows established cash handling procedures. Displays prompt and courteous service to customers and is able to communicate effectively with them. Responsible for the cleanliness of the cafeteria. Maintains the cafeteria and serving area in a clean and organized atmosphere. Sets up cafeteria hot and cold food areas and serves food during meal times, as well as serving as the cashier. Also stocks condiment areas, paper, and tableware supplies. Cleans assigned areas, equipment and surfaces according to department procedures and schedules. Work assigned may include but is not limited to: tables, counters, and various types of kitchen equipment, steamtables, salad bar, beverage machines, refrigerators, sinks, chairs, cookie oven, cupboards, walls, hoods, vents, freezers. Is responsible for following directions for the safe and sanitary use of cleaning agents. Prepares and portions cafeteria food items. Also checks temperatures of food in steamtable and salad bar to ensure safe food. Assists on tray-line with pots and pans or in the dish room if necessary. Displays polite attitude toward customers and maintains friendly, efficient, and responsive attitude toward customer transactions. Required to complete all annual competency training.
