KNOXVILLE – Knoxville Hospital & Clinics is announcing that it will be a participating provider in the new health insurance company, Wellmark Value Plan Inc. The company is a licensed Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), owned by Mercy Health Network Inc. and Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
The Wellmark Value Plan Inc. will be offering individual and small group health insurance plans in 36 counties, both on and off the public health insurance exchange, beginning in January 2017. Open enrollment for the 2017 plan year began Nov. 1, 2016. Included in Knoxville Hospital & Clinics’ service area are Jasper, Marion, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, and Warren counties.
In an HMO network, premiums are generally lower. However, there is a little less flexibility – for instance, if your current primary care provider (family doctor) is not in the network, you may have to pay more out-of-pocket. Enrollees in the new plan may want to consider choosing a new primary care provider that is “in-network” to keep their costs lower.
“Thanks to Knoxville Hospital & Clinics participation in the new network, our current patients can continue to receive the high-quality care they are accustomed to receiving from their existing primary care providers,” said Knoxville Hospital & Clinics CEO Kevin Kincaid.
Individuals who are enrolling in the new plan and are seeking an in-network provider are encouraged to give Knoxville Hospital & Clinics a call at 641-842-7211. Our goal is to provide our patients with the highest quality, most advanced care – delivered with compassion and respect. We offer patients the best primary care services, along with access to a full range of medical services and specialty physicians – all close to home or work.”
Knoxville Hospital & Clinics, a Critical Access Hospital serving Marion County and the surrounding area, is dedicated to providing personal, progressive quality health care with compassion.
