Knoxville Hospital & Clinics Awards Annual DAISY Award to Kyley VanDonsler, RN

KNOXVILLE, IA – Kyley VanDonsler, a Registered Nurse in the Clinic at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics (KHC), was recognized with the organization’s 12th annual DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

The DAISY Award recognizes an individual’s dedication to the nursing profession, patients, and their family members. The award was founded in 1999 in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 from complications of ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura), thus giving name to award “Diseases Attacking the Immune System” DAISY.

Kyley has been employed at KHC for 11 years. In her nominations, Kyley was cited for her heart and soul and dedication to her patients, co-workers, and KHC as a whole.

“Kyley is always willing to help in any way she can and exhibits compassion and teamwork throughout the organization. During a patient visit, Kyley discovered that the patient only had a couple of items to eat and would not get paid for several more days. With no transportation and no one to help the patient out, Kyley took it upon herself to research food pantries in the area. With the patient’s permission, she went to a food pantry, picked up some food, and delivered it to the patient’s home. The patient was extremely grateful for her assistance,” read one of her nominations.

Another nomination read, “Kyley exhibits kindness in her willingness to pick up additional tasks such as filling in for the department leader and other staff members as needed. She does not step back from her primary role to do the added responsibilities but instead steps up and works even harder. Kyley is a great asset to Knoxville Hospital & Clinics and exemplifies what it means to be recognized as a DAISY Award winner.”

Each year, the KHC Operations Team selects a DAISY Award winner from nominations submitted throughout the year. Previous KHC DAISY Award winners include Cheryl James, Holly Ives, Kellie Jones, Sandy Cupples, Elizabeth Hembrook, Leah Sims, Rachel Davis, Debbie Lefler, Dawn Bender, Ami Morgan, and Amanda Phillips.
