Patient Access Representative – PRN

This is a PRN (as needed) position working evenings and weekends. 

Under the general supervision of the Registration Coordinator the Registration Clerk is responsible for all registration, pre-admission, and admission functions for all types of patients.

Essential Functions

  • Initial contact with the patient and is responsible for providing a comprehensive, coordinated, and seamless service to patients.
  • Assist the patient through the registration process.
  • Obtain current and accurate demographic information as well as insurance information.
  • Validate the status of insurance and determine the amount to be covered by private carrier.
  • Make appropriate referrals to assist the uninsured population.
  • Collect required fees and co-pays.
  • Verify participation in managed care programs as well as authorization for hospital service with primary care providers.
  • Obtain proper signatures and process patient changes, including discharges, ensuring that all signatures, billing forms, and information are on file prior to patients’ release.
  • Prepare patient receipts and balance cash drawer.
  • Perform telephone duties as required and reroute calls to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain an overall understanding of hospital functions and escort patients and public to the proper destination.
  • Other duties as assigned by department leader.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Mandatory Reporter training certification.
  • Computer use and data entry experience required.
  • Insurance knowledge is preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills required.
  • Required to complete all annual competency training and maintain license and/or certification.

 

This is a PRN (as needed) position and is eligible for retirement benefits through a 403b plan.
