KNOXVILLE – Congratulations to Karol Hoehns, Lab, for being selected the KHC Hero of the Month at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics.
“Karol arrived at work and heard a man asking for help in the waiting area by the ER. She asked what she could do for him. He said he needed a ride home. Karol offered to call the HIRTA van, but he declined because he didn’t have the money to pay for it. Karol called anyway. The van couldn’t get him until noon (which was about five hours later). Karol called another person who she knew gave rides. This individual was able to pick up the person in about 30 minutes. Karol gave the man money to pay for the ride and went back to work. She checked on him later and he was just leaving. Karol followed up and made sure he made it home safely. This is what people-centered compassion looks like to me,” read her nomination.
Karol will be in the running for KHC Hero of the Year in May 2020.
The other employees nominated this month will automatically be entered for consideration for the next three months. After each quarter, we will share the employees who were nominated during that timeframe.
