Knoxville, Iowa – In health care, ensuring quality standards is paramount, particularly in the early detection of diseases like breast cancer. Knoxville Hospital & Clinics is proud to announce that the Mammography Department recently passed the Mammography Quality Standard Act (MQSA) annual inspection with 100% compliance.
“At Knoxville Hospital & Clinics, we are committed to the fight against breast cancer and proud to offer the highest quality of mammography services to our patients,” said Kevin Kincaid, CEO at KHC. “Passing the annual MQSA inspection with no findings is a testament to our commitment for excellence but also highlights the critical role we play in advancing breast health within the communities we serve.”
Enacted in 1992, the MQSA was designed to guarantee access to quality mammography services for the early detection of breast cancer. It mandates rigorous inspections of mammography facilities to ensure adherence to stringent standards set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Compliance with MQSA regulations is essential for facilities to operate legally and provide mammogram services.
According to the American Cancer Society, over 310,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in women this year, and an estimated 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Those statistics make annual mammograms–women aged 40 and higher should receive a mammogram each year–even more important.
In addition to 3D Mammography, the KHC Imaging Department offers diagnostic imaging services including MRI, bone density scans, CT scans, ultrasound, X-ray, and nuclear medicine. For more information on the Imaging services at KHC, contact the Imaging Department at (641) 842-1466.
