Position Summary
The COO organizes and oversees the daily operations of the facility, ensuring it is well-coordinated and productive by managing its procedures and coaching its people. The area of responsibility for this role is very wide and thus requires thorough knowledge of various facility processes. The COO must be competent and able to plan many kinds of operational activities. He/She must be a leader who can discover the most efficient ways to run the facility. The goal is to augment the efficiency of the facility’s operations by providing advice and consultation with the CEO. This person should have the ability to fulfill the duties of the CEO in their absence.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to manage and engage with employees, assign them tasks for a smooth flow of work.
- Must have managerial and organizational skills to organize and manage staff.
- Excellent communication skills are imperative to communicate with the staff daily.
- Must be able to handle the pressure of the work and to proactively handle any disputes and issues of the staff.
- Must be able to operate the computer statistical software to give reports to the chief executives.
- Must have excellent decision making and analytical skills to review and analyze business procedures.
- Must be able to work in collaboration with the management, marketing, direct patient care, ancillary, contracted and administration departments.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with business colleagues and clients.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills while dealing with colleagues to address and solve their queries and act as a bridge between upper management and staff.
- Will be liaising with Leadership to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals.
- Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of hospital operations.
- This position will be supervising leaders from different departments and providing constructive feedback.
- Will revise and/or formulate policies and/or procedures and operationalize their implementation.
- Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and metrics for facility.
- Ensure the facility runs with legality and conformity to established regulations.
- Direct reports will include but not limited to: Non-Clinical areas and Hospital operations.
Job Requirements
- MHA and/or MBA with strong preference for FACHE designation required.
- Previous experience in hospital operations and provider contracting.
- Prior CEO/COO level experience
- Must live within the Knoxville Community School District.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must have excellent decision-making skills as well as analytical skills.
- Demonstrates ability to analyze and interpret data for decision making.
- Full knowledge of hospital COP’s and other regulatory expectations.
- Responsible for formulating operational policies.
- Required to complete all annual competency training and maintain license and/or certification.
