Knoxville Hospital & Clinics (KHC) offers general and specialized surgical procedures. Many of these procedures are available on a same-day, outpatient basis in our newly renovated surgical center.
Dr. David S. Kermode, DO, is a general surgeon affiliated with KHC and Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines. He received his medical degree from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training at the Kirksville Osteo Medical Center-General Surgery and Naval Hospital-Jacksonville-Family Medicine.
Dr. Kermode has more than 30 years of experience in performing many types of general surgeries, including advanced and minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures that afford patients the benefit of smaller incisions, less pain, a shortened hospital stay, and fewer heart, lung and wound complications. Some of these procedures include:
- Gastric banding (the LAP-BAND® System)
- Hernia repair
- Hiatal hernia repair
- Laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy
- Tubal ligation
- For ovarian cysts or tumors, and uterine fibroids
