This is a Full-Time position working 40 hours a week Monday through Friday with potential flex time involved.
The Clinic CMA will work under the supervision of a physician. The CMA supports the physicians and other providers in delivering high-quality health care to Clinic patients.
Essential Functions
- Room patients, identify and documents chief complaint, allergies and medications.
- Measure and record vital signs, weight and measurement.
- Summarize assessment data, document and share with provider.
- Provide immunizations, injections and medications under the supervision of the provider.
- Assist with prescription refills under direction of provider.
- Perform preventative health screenings and nursing treatments.
- Assist with patient examinations.
- Perform detailed documentation, patient and family education.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Assure patients are seen in and orderly and fair manner.
- Explain delays and waiting times.
- Ensure that acutely ill or injured patients are triaged and seen first.
- Notifies patient of lab/imaging results.
- Complete room outdate checks and restock exam rooms.
- Instruct patients on preparation for tests, procedures, surgeries.
- Complete referral forms, insurance verifications, and prior authorizations.
- Manage the patient’s clinical health record. Record all appropriate information in a timely manner: reason for visit, vital signs, allergies, current list of medications. Secure all loose papers and all correspondence from other physicians, including lab reports, x-ray reports, etc., before returning chart to medical records.
- Maintain provider’s exam rooms. Stock exam room with necessary supplies and check for outdated supplies. Set up for appropriate procedure(s). Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Escort patients to and family to exam rooms and procedure areas.
- Verify clinic and surgery/procedure schedules and call patients with appointment reminders and instructions.
- Exhibit cooperation and a positive attitude toward co-workers, providers, patients and visitors.
- Ability to work in fast paced work environment with constantly changing demands
- Provide excellent customer service with positive attitude towards patients, family, providers and other employees
- Ability to work with a variety of medical specialists with an understanding of the clinical aspects of each specialty including but not limited to orthopedics, pain, sleep, ENT, rheumatology, oncology, urology and surgery
- All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Current Certification as a CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants.
- Previous clinic experience preferred.
- Current BLS and Mandatory Reporter Certification required.
- Required to complete all annual competency training and maintain license and/or certifications.
