Knoxville Hospital & Clinics Laboratory Passes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Inspection with Perfect Score

KNOXVILLE, IA – An inspection of the laboratory at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) program took place recently and found no deficiencies for the fifth year in a row.

During the assessment, an extensive review of policies, procedures, and processes was performed to ensure that the laboratory and staff are in compliance with the CLIA requirements. All areas of the laboratory process were examined, from collecting a specimen, testing, and reporting of results. In accordance with CLIA, the laboratory participates in this on-site inspection every two years to prove proficiency, quality and competency of the staff, equipment, and internal processes. Included in the assessment was also the review of the instruments that measure blood gases and carbon monoxide levels for respiratory therapy patients.

“With so many areas within the laboratory surveyed, the achievement of a deficiency free inspection is a great testament and tremendous accomplishment to the technicians who work in the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics laboratory,” said Kevin Kincaid, Chief Executive Officer at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics. “Without their hard work and dedication, a perfect score would not be attainable. I am proud of their commitment to providing the highest quality of laboratory care for our patients.”

The Knoxville Hospital & Clinics laboratory is a fully equipped, modern laboratory providing timely and accurate results, giving your doctor the best possible chance in defining your path to wellness.
