Online Fundraiser for Knoxville Hospital & Clinics Emergency Room Renovations Raises $82,000

KNOXVILLE, IA – The Knoxville Hospital & Clinics (KHC) Foundation’s recent online fundraiser raised more than $82,000 for the hospital’s Emergency Room renovation, with a lead gift from Don and Margaret Long.

“We are truly humbled and blessed by the outpouring of support and generosity from our community, friends, business partners, and sponsors,” said Kevin Stittsworth, Director of Foundation and Public Relations.

According to Stittsworth, the funds will go a long way towards the Emergency Room project. The investment will increase staff workspace and provide additional private rooms for patient care, which is especially critical when patients with mental health needs stay an extended time waiting to be transferred to a long-term care facility.

Stittsworth is quick to acknowledge Don and Margaret Long’s longtime generosity to the KHC Foundation, citing the couple as the ultimate example of what humility and servant-hearted leadership in action looks like.

“We just wanted to show our appreciation for the great care the hospital staff has provided us over the years,” said Margaret. “We encourage everyone to truly appreciate our local hospital and to show their gratitude by giving to the Foundation – it is such a benefit to our community to have a high caliber hospital and staff right here in Knoxville.”

As part of the fundraiser, the KHC Foundation held a raffle for a Trip Getaway and prize drawings for three donor tiers. Congratulations to the following winners!

  • Tina Shilling – Trip Getaway raffle, with their choice of one of four travel destinations.
  • Dude and Rachel Hoehns – Knoxville Raceway & Checkered Flag Concessions donated an 8-person suite, 2 VIP passes, and food and beverages for a 2021 race.
